Man dies in Wollongong apartment fire as police launch investigation
A man believed to be 52 died in a fire at a Wollongong unit on Greenacre Road on September 19.
Emergency services were called to a Wollongong unit complex on Greenacre Road about 7:40pm on September 19 after a fire broke out. Firefighters found the body of a man, believed to be 52 years old, inside the unit.
Neighbouring residents were evacuated as Fire and Rescue NSW worked to extinguish the blaze. One person was treated for smoke inhalation by paramedics but did not require further treatment.
Police have established a crime scene and are investigating. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
