Jindera ends Mackie's tenure, promotes Garland to sole coach
The Jindera Bulldogs ended Joel Mackie's contract after three seasons. They are promoting Luke Garland to sole coach for 2027.
Jindera ended coach Joel Mackie's job on Thursday after he had already agreed to a fourth year at the club. Luke Garland will now lead the team outright in 2027, speeding up plans that originally had him joining as co-coach.
He was set to take full control in 2028. Mackie steered Jindera to finals in each of his three seasons.
Last year included a preliminary final. They lost to premiers Osborne.
Mackie said he accepts the decision. He believes Garland deserves the chance to start fresh.
Football manager Simon Cossor said the club wanted a clean slate after three years. He felt the timing was right for the change.
Mackie has not ruled out playing in Jindera's reserves next season.
