Dave Gleeson confirmed for NRL grand final performance

Screaming Jets frontman Dave Gleeson will perform at the NRL grand final pre-game entertainment on Sunday.

Dave Gleeson from Screaming Jets will perform at Sunday's NRL grand final pre-game show in Sydney, though the rest of the band is unlikely to join him. The confirmation comes after days of uncertainty about the entertainment line-up.

Reports suggest Gleeson is part of a supergroup tribute to Rabbitohs player Jai Arrow, who was diagnosed with motor neuron disease this year. The supergroup includes members from Grinspoon, Peking Duk and Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers.

Media outlets said performers plan to donate their fees to support MND research. Singer Amy Shark criticised the NRL for underpaying artists, just hours after being rumoured for the bill.

NRL boss Peter V'landys promised "very special Australian performers" would play as Arrow, whose diagnosis forced his retirement, walks the field.
