Newcastle Knights reach NRL grand final with extra trains and buses for fans
Newcastle Knights face Roosters in Sunday's NRL grand final with 80,000 fans expected and free transport included.
The Newcastle Knights are in the NRL grand final, with kick-off at 7:30pm on Sunday at Sydney Olympic Park. A sold-out crowd of 80,000 footy fans will descend on the venue, with more than 20,000 Knights supporters expected from Newcastle.
Sydney Trains has scheduled 158 extra suburban services and 30 extra Hunter and Central Coast services to handle the crowds. Free travel on all public transport is included with match tickets.
Light rail services will run every 10 minutes from 4pm to midnight, and ferry services extend to midnight. Shuttle buses will run from Newcastle's CBD, Charlestown, Glendale, Wallsend and Mayfield to McDonald Jones Stadium for fans watching the live site broadcast.
