Trump endorses Netanyahu in Israeli election after months of attacks
Trump publicly endorsed Netanyahu for re-election just over a week before voting. This reversed months of criticism.
Trump posted a long endorsement calling Netanyahu a Great Warrior Prime Minister and urging Israelis to vote for him and his Likud party. Trump wrote that if Israel elects a different leader, America would have to handle regional conflicts alone.
Trump said: I am not inclined to do so. Netanyahu quickly posted a comparison showing Trump alongside him.
The caption said: A friend of Israel wants Netanyahu to win. This marks a sharp change.
In June, Trump gave harsh criticism of Netanyahu during a phone call, calling him crazy and accusing him of undermining Iran negotiations. Polls show Netanyahu's Likud could be the second-largest party after challenger Gadi Eisenkot's Yashar party.
Coalition talks could still let Netanyahu keep power.
