Ballarat bikie boss Daniel Jayasekera jailed for assault and strangulation
Daniel Jayasekera, 35, former Nomads chapter president, was sentenced to 14 months non-parole for assaulting and strangling an 18-year-old woman.
On 7 October, magistrate Julia Barling sentenced Jayasekera, who had pleaded guilty to assault, strangulation, threat to kill and pretending to be a police officer. The court heard he attacked the young woman in his home, grabbed her throat and pushed her onto a bed.
The victim escaped and sought help. Later that day, Jayasekera drove through a residential street pretending to be a police officer.
He flashed a fake ID badge. Residents called police.
He was arrested after officers spoke with the victim, who required hospital treatment. Barling described his crimes as extremely serious and told Jayasekera his luck had run out.
