Warrnambool bowls club plans $2.7m all-weather roof after buying land
The club bought the Timor Street property for $500,000 in May 2026 to install an all-weather roof over its two greens.
Warrnambool Bowls Club has unveiled a $2.7 million plan to cover its two greens with an all-weather roof. The club purchased the land from Warrnambool City Council in May 2026 for $500,000, ending a lease at about $1 a week.
The roof aims to stop losses from weather delays and cancellations caused by heat, wind and rain. The club is now seeking planning approval from the council.
Another local club, City Memorial Bowls Club, announced similar plans in June 2026 to add a roof over one green as part of a $2 million upgrade. The moves reflect a broader push to make the sport playable year-round.
