Genesis Owusu headlines new Canberra festival after years without live music
Genesis Owusu, Rum Jungle and other Australian acts perform at Canberra's first major festival since COVID shut down live music.
Canberra's music fans have waited years for a major festival. AfterHours plays on October 17 at ANU's Chifley Meadows.
The lineup includes Genesis Owusu, Rum Jungle, Chloe Parché, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers. Dylan Adams and Charley Ellwood organise the event.
Adams is a Canberra musician. Ellwood heads the ANU Students Association.
The city's two biggest festivals, Spilt Milk and Groovin the Moo, were cancelled in 2024. Spilt Milk returns in December 2026.
Groovin the Moo has not returned. Early-bird tickets cost $90, with discounts for high school and university students.
Ellwood said the response from fans has been huge. The ANU backs the event as part of its 80th anniversary.
