78-year-old charged with 20-plus historical child sex assault counts
A 78-year-old Stockton man has been charged with more than 20 counts of child sexual assault spanning the 1980s.
Mid North Coast police arrested the man on 24 September after Strike Force Franbach investigation into reports from 1980 to 1990 in Bellangry, west of Port Macquarie. The man faces six counts of domestic violence-related aggravated sexual assault and four counts of sexual assault on a person under 16.
Other charges include aggravated indecency, inciting a minor to commit an act of indecency, and domestic violence-related acts of indecency. Police seized items during a search of his Mitchell Street home for forensic examination.
The man was refused bail and will appear in Port Macquarie Local Court next month.
