Man hospitalised after machete assault in Newcastle
A 43-year-old was struck in the face with a machete during a four-man altercation at Merewether near Newcastle on Sunday night.
Police are investigating an assault at Merewether after a man was struck in the face with a machete near a service station on Glebe Road. Emergency services were called just before 10pm on Sunday, October 4.
A 43-year-old and a 24-year-old were involved in an altercation with two other men. One was armed with the machete.
NSW Ambulance treated the victim at the scene for a laceration before taking him to hospital. Newcastle City Police District has established a crime scene and launched an investigation.
No charges have been laid. Anyone with dashcam, mobile or CCTV footage is urged to contact Newcastle Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
