Albanese commits to 62-70% emissions cut by 2035
The PM set a target to cut emissions 62-70 per cent by 2035 from 2005 levels.
Speaking at the Climate Week event at the UN in New York, Anthony Albanese said Australia understands the urgency of tackling global warming because of recent bushfires and floods. The government has set a target to cut emissions by 62-70 per cent by 2035, using renewable power backed by gas.
Australians are installing 10,000 home batteries each week, more than half a million in the past year. Australia is contributing $100 million to the Pacific Resilience Facility and another $350 million for climate infrastructure in the Pacific, Albanese said.
The country also exports knowledge through firefighters helping combat fires in the US, Canada and France.
