Canberra Hospital will more than double its current capacity. The University of Canberra will open a new northside clinic in coming months.
The clinic alone will treat about 375 patients yearly with chronic lung disease, mostly COPD. Physiotherapy students from UC will provide care with supervision from CHS clinical staff.
The expansion should cut hospital bed days by about 480 each year. This will save about $1.4 million annually.
