Newcastle University's I2N accelerator launches 12 new startups
I2N has backed 12 new startups in its latest 13-week cohort from the University of Newcastle.
The I2N accelerator is backing 12 new companies. The 13-week program runs three streams: Healthtech, Cleantech, and general startups.
Each team gets a mentor, weekly sessions and workshops on fundraising and growth. Since 2016, I2N has backed 282 startups.
Those startups raised more than $86.7 million together and created 304 jobs. Many founders come from within the university.
A chemistry student is tackling drug safety. A staff member created a botanical brine shot for endurance athletes.
Others come from the disability sector. The cohort includes Bin Chick (hospitality waste), Envirocone (cardboard mining cones), and ConnectedCare Hub (health platform for disabled children).
