Adam Liaw hosts Recipe of the Year, new ABC cooking series

Adam Liaw hosts Recipe of the Year, a new seven-part ABC show where 10 home cooks compete with their own recipes.

The show, created by Liaw's production company i8 Studio and hosted with actor Pia Miranda, shifts focus from the competition itself to the recipes and the people behind them. Contestants share meals around a table together after cooking, a departure from typical competition formats.

Three challenges determine winners: the blue ribbon for creativity, the gold ribbon for precision (judged by the Country Women's Association of NSW), and a feature recipe round. The final round is decided by all contestants voting rather than expert judges alone.

Liaw says the show aims to feature 'real food that people cook', with themes including comfort food, budget cooking, big barbecues and weekend brunch recipes.
