Girl and elderly man improve from critical after Wallsend accident
A 5-year-old girl and 67-year-old man have improved from critical to serious and remain stable.
Doctors said the two most injured are improving after the Saturday crash at Wallsend. The 5-year-old girl and 67-year-old man have been downgraded from critical to serious.
Both remain stable. The car hit a crowd of about 1,000 Newcastle Knights supporters gathered to see the team leave for the grand final.
The crash occurred on Link Road at 9:30am. Four other patients are still in hospital in stable condition.
Four more have been discharged. An 18-year-old driver has been charged with three counts of dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm.
He was also charged with three counts of negligent driving causing grievous bodily harm and three counts of causing bodily harm by misconduct. Police said his licence was suspended and the vehicle was seized.
