Stringer in talks with Essendon about shock AFL return
Jake Stringer has met with Essendon about rejoining the Bombers after being released by the Giants despite kicking 48 goals.
The 32-year-old AFL veteran was let go by the Giants at the end of the season despite being the club's leading goal kicker. Stringer has since returned to Melbourne seeking to join a Victorian team.
Stringer met with new Essendon coach Mark McVeigh on Sunday. The pair have a family connection, with Stringer married to McVeigh's cousin.
Stringer spent seven seasons at Essendon and won the club's leading goalkicker award three times before leaving for the Giants. Stringer's camp is hopeful of securing a list spot, though the Bombers have other priorities to address first.
