Dana Fry has been confirmed as the winner of the NTFA women's best and fairest award after a typo in the live presentation caused confusion. The Old Launcestonians captain and Bridgenorth's Taja Richardson battled throughout the count, with Fry leading by one vote heading into the final round.
Richardson then polled two votes in round 18, but the presentation showed L.Hancock earning three votes instead. Hancock actually plays for George Town and had earned two votes.
NTFA general manager Damian Jones confirmed the error: those votes belonged to Fry, who won 30 to 28. The umpires had lodged the votes correctly electronically, and the league's master file had confirmed Fry's victory all along.
Fry captained Old Launcestonians throughout 2026, leading them to the grand final, which they lost to Old Scotch on Saturday.
