Jockey's three-week suspension cut to 12 days after appeal
Canberra jockey Brodie Loy's three-week ban for an altercation was cut to 12 days on appeal.
The Racing NSW Appeal Panel cut Loy's ban from three weeks to 12 days. This lets him ride again on October 31.
Loy was first punished for aggressively confronting apprentice Jordan Quince on September 6. The incident happened in a restricted area at Gundagai.
He used offensive language. Quince was fined $500 after throwing a gear brush at Loy.
The panel found Loy started the trouble and bore greater responsibility. But the panel cut his penalty after he completed counselling with a Racing NSW psychologist.
The panel noted his self-reflection and his efforts to change his behaviour after the incident.
