Hundreds gather for Matt Dee's ocean funeral at Bronte Beach
Hundreds of friends gathered at Bronte Beach to scatter the ashes of Bondi Rescue star Matt Dee.
Former Bondi Rescue star Matt Dee died suddenly on September 1, believed to have died from natural causes. On Saturday, hundreds of friends, family and colleagues gathered at Bronte Beach in Sydney to honour his memory.
Matt Dee's ashes were carried into the surf and scattered in the ocean as surfers formed a circle in a traditional burial ceremony before paddling back together on a large wave. Friends played his favourite songs and carried flowers into the water.
Dee had made his wishes clear to his mates: turn his farewell into a big party. His best friend said Dee always made people feel like his best mate.
