Canberra cat rescue opens thrift store to fund street animal work
The Canberra Street Cat Alliance is opening a thrift store called Rescued and Rehomed to fund rescue operations.
The Canberra Street Cat Alliance, which rescues and rehomes street cats across the ACT, will open a thrift store in October to help pay for its operations. The charity spent $200,000 last financial year caring for cats and running its trapping, neutering and returning programs.
The store, based in Crace, will sell donated jewellery, books, DVDs, kitchenware, craft supplies and other items in good condition. Profits will go toward the alliance's work and a plan to buy its own building.
Alliance president Vanessa Parton said kitten season arrived early this year, with pregnant street cats already being spotted across Canberra.
