The World Surf League confirmed on Wednesday that its Championship Tour will return to Raglan's Manu Bay in 2027. The return comes one year after the inaugural event drew the world's best surfers to New Zealand's legendary left-hand break.
Carissa Moore, a five-time world champion, won the women's contest. Brazilian Italo Ferreira, the 2019 world champion, claimed the men's title.
The 2026 event proved Manu Bay could host elite-level surf competition for the first time in its history. The New Zealand government backed the return.
It cites economic benefits for the Waikato region and global exposure. Two local surfers will earn wildcard spots through a domestic trials event next year.
