Finks bikies sentenced over failed sledgehammer break-in
Three members received 1-4 year sentences for attempting to break into a home they wrongly thought held half-a-million dollars.
Three Finks bikies pleaded guilty to attempted aggravated break-and-enter and theft over a Lake Macquarie raid on February 23 last year. At least six men with covered faces crept to the house around 1:40am and repeatedly smashed the front door with a sledgehammer, cracking wood and shattering glass but could not force entry.
Mathew Mullin was shot during the commotion and fled to hospital with gunshot wounds. The victims, a double-amputee homeowner, his wife and adult son, were woken by the alarm.
The homeowner's wife lost her sense of safety, suffered intrusive memories and became hypervigilant. Mullin gets one year and eight months non-parole, eligible November 12.
