Longmuir wins coaches' vote for best coach of the year
Justin Longmuir has been voted the AFL Coaches Association's senior coach of the year after leading Fremantle to the minor premiership.
Longmuir topped the poll with 260 votes ahead of Brisbane's Chris Fagan, who received 216 votes. Sydney's Dean Cox came third with 98 votes.
Longmuir, who has coached the Dockers since 2020, said the award reflected the work of his entire coaching group rather than himself alone. AFLCA CEO Alistair Nicholson said what impressed him most was the consistency and resilience of the Fremantle group throughout the season.
The honour comes days before Longmuir faces off against Fagan in Saturday's Grand Final, where the two coaches will guide their teams in the season's biggest match.
