Descendant hunts lost footage of last Tassie Tiger shot 90 years ago
Nick Cole searches for lost film of the last captive Tasmanian Tiger, believing more footage exists than the known 30-second clip.
Nick Cole, a Bookaar resident, is searching for missing film shot by his ancestor Francis Sorlie Cole, who filmed the only captive Tasmanian Tiger at Beaumaris Zoo in Hobart, 90 years after the animal's death.
The known clip is just 30 to 40 seconds long. Cole's relative Frank Edgington Cole was about four years old during filming.
He was sure another reel existed. Frank died aged 92 just two months ago but had said more footage was shot.
Cole knows roughly where to look for some negatives and additional film. Finding it would help document the extinct marsupial and give a lasting record for the species.
