Two businesses in Canberra's Fyshwick industrial area were hit by ram raids early on Monday, October 12. A ram raid is when thieves drive a car into a shop to break in.
At Canberra Tyres on Wollongong Street, a lone burglar reversed a car into the roller door at about 4am. The burglar took tools, scanners, equipment and a cash register holding about $3000.
The business is looking at thousands of dollars in repair and recovery costs. Minutes earlier, a computer shop next door, MSY, was broken into about 3.55am, police said.
A white Ford Ranger, reported stolen from Kambah, was found burning near Kambah Pool Road about 4.40am. ACT Policing says the burglar drove a white Mitsubishi Pajero, which has not been found.
