40 young Ballarat entrepreneurs launch market stalls on September 26
Young entrepreneurs including 10-year-old Marshall Howlett will run stalls at Ballarat's first Young Entrepreneurs Market on September 26.
10-year-old Marshall Howlett from Alfredton has been working on his 3D printer all summer. On September 26 at Brown Hill Community Hall, he will sell key rings and storage boxes at Ballarat's first Young Entrepreneurs Market.
More than 20 young people from local schools will run stalls, along with homeschooled entrepreneurs given first priority. Ria Elide wanted to give kids real-world experience in running a business, learning budgeting, customer service and money handling.
Her own daughters learned these skills through market stalls and encouraged her to create a community event. Demand has been high, and she is considering running the market every six months.
The goal is to build confidence and teach skills that classrooms cannot.
