Former police officer on trial for assaulting younger colleagues
Matthew Stephen Cameron pleaded not guilty to ten charges of sexual assault against three younger police colleagues.
Matthew Stephen Cameron, a former NSW Police officer, is on trial in District Court for allegedly sexually touching and assaulting three younger male colleagues. The alleged offences occurred between December 2021 and April 2023.
Cameron was a constable at Northern Beaches Police Area Command. All three alleged victims were probationary constables there at the time.
Crown prosecutor Damien Hannan told the court the offences took place during and after social gatherings. The defence argues the sexual acts were consensual.
The court will hear that Cameron's higher rank may be an aggravating factor. Cameron has maintained his not guilty pleas to all ten charges.
