Australia's emissions rules may push truck prices higher, Ram warns
Ram Trucks Australia suggests new emissions regulations could force higher showroom prices as standards tighten.
Ram Trucks Australia's general manager warned that tougher emissions rules may increase vehicle prices. The New Vehicle Efficiency Standard (NVES) is in its second year, with stricter targets each year until 2029.
Makers face a $50 fine per unit above their target, with a maximum penalty of $100. Many Ram models are exempt because they weigh more than 3.5 tonnes.
But from mid-2027, some heavier light-duty vehicles will be checked. Ram's six-cylinder models fall in this range, while bigger Hemi V8 trucks stay exempt.
Other makers including Ford have already raised prices citing emissions compliance.
