Female police officer killed in Redfern vehicle crash
A female police constable died when the marked vehicle she was riding in crashed into a tree about 1:30am.
A female police constable has been killed in a crash in Redfern, Sydney. The marked police vehicle she was a passenger in, traveling under lights and sirens, crashed into a tree on Gibbons Street.
The male driver was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition. The crash happened just outside Redfern Police Station.
Police have declared a critical incident and established a crime scene. Regent Street was closed in both directions north of Lawson Street, and Wyndham Street and Gibbons Street have also been closed as the investigation continues.
