WA police review use of force after officer pushes 63-year-old woman down
A video appeared to show an officer pushing a 63-year-old Indigenous woman. Police are now reviewing the use of force.
The incident happened outside a unit block in Karratha on Tuesday. Police arrived to arrest a 33-year-old man.
Beverley Hubert said she and family members moved towards officers because she believed the arrest was too heavy-handed. Video shows an officer pushing Ms Hubert to the ground.
She says her head hit gravel. The footage also shows people being pepper sprayed.
Four people have been charged, including Ms Hubert herself with assaulting a police officer. WA police said officers are trained to use as little force as possible.
They are trained to calm situations when they can. The review is now underway.
