Judith Lucy announces early-stage breast cancer diagnosis
Australian comedian Judith Lucy has disclosed she was diagnosed with early-stage, non-aggressive breast cancer detected during a routine mammogram.
Comedian and actor Judith Lucy has revealed she has breast cancer and will have a double mastectomy. The 58-year-old was diagnosed after a routine mammogram screening detected the disease, which she describes as early-stage and non-aggressive.
After an initial lumpectomy, doctors found more cancer, leading to the decision to remove both breasts. Lucy announced the diagnosis on October 6 and has posted on social media urging women to keep up with their screening because her cancer could not be felt by touch.
She has shared her journey with humour, posting a photo from nearly three decades ago with a farewell message. Last week she also revealed she suffered a head injury nine days after her diagnosis when she combined sleeping pills and alcohol while coping with the news.
