Man jailed one year, nine months for Nazi symbols on Lake Macquarie boat
Jake Dearie, 33, received one year nine months jail for displaying prohibited Nazi symbols on a boat.
Jake Dearie was sentenced in Newcastle District Court on Friday for causing a prohibited Nazi symbol to be displayed in public. The boat, parked at Swansea, displayed a reversed swastika, images of Adolf Hitler with the slur "Get Das Jews", and the words "Jew slayer".
Dearie will be released next week with time served since his December arrest. Dearie must stay on a good-behaviour order for a year.
Ashleigh Wilkins, 34, Dearie's partner, will face court next week to get a sentencing date for her role. Judge Roy Ellis said the decal was designed to offend and harm.
Such displays target Jewish people and can spark violence.
