Bitcoin rallies to $86k as investors bet crypto winter is over

Bitcoin traded above $86,000 on Monday, its highest price since late January, as experts declare the cryptocurrency downturn has ended.

Bitcoin rose to $86,349.90 on Monday, marking its best level in eight months. The rally caps a week of strong gains, with the cryptocurrency up more than 8% in seven days and 34% over the past three months.

Experts believe the "crypto winter" that began after Bitcoin hit $126,000 in October 2025 has ended. Matt Hougan, CIO at Bitwise, told CNBC the market is entering "crypto spring" and predicted it will become "the strongest and longest-running bull market in crypto's history".

Analysts say if Bitcoin holds above $75,000, it could push toward $90,000 by year's end. The rally is also drawing traders back from AI stocks, where investor focus had shifted earlier in the year.
