X launches crypto trading for US users via brokers

US users of X can now trade Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies through partner platforms Interactive Brokers and Gemini.

X has opened a pathway for US users to buy and sell digital assets. When a user taps a crypto ticker like "$BTC" on the platform, a trade button appears.

The trade button routes them to Interactive Brokers or Gemini, where the actual transaction happens. X already shows live prices and charts for Bitcoin and Ethereum.

The move is Elon Musk's first step toward his goal of turning X into an "everything app" with full banking features. X has 245 million global users, many of them active in crypto discussions.

Why it mattersIf X adds on-platform trading, it becomes a direct competitor to exchanges and brokers, and a new way for millions to access crypto.

AustraliaNo direct Australian effect yet. X would need to launch crypto trading for Australian users to affect local traders.
