Albury council to vote on new rules for adult businesses Monday
Albury is drafting planning rules to allow adult businesses in some zones while keeping them away from homes and schools.
Albury council will vote Monday on planning rules for adult businesses like strip clubs and sex shops. The rules come more than two years after the city rejected a proposed club in the CBD.
Adult businesses would require a 50-metre buffer from homes in residential zones and 100 metres from other adult businesses or brothels. Sex shops and strip clubs would stay banned near schools, childcare centres and churches.
Anyone wanting to open such a business would need a social impact assessment and a management plan covering security, staffing, cleaning and waste. The rules draw on guidelines used by councils in Wagga and Dubbo.
If adopted, the plan will be shown to the public for 28 days before final approval.
