Community raises $17,500 for paramedic scholarship in Steven Tougher's name
A Woonona fundraiser raised $17,500 for a scholarship honoring paramedic Steven Tougher, who was killed on duty in 2023.
On Friday, 220 people dressed in yellow gathered at Woonona Bowling Club for a fundraiser supporting Steven Tougher's name. Steven died in April 2023.
He was stabbed while working as a paramedic. His parents have since pushed for Steven's Law.
This calls for better protections for health workers. The Steven Tougher Online SRC Memorial Paramedicine Scholarship helps paramedic students at Charles Sturt University pay for their studies.
Health Minister Ryan Park donated $17,500 towards the scholarship. Steven left behind his wife Madison, stepson Kobi and daughter Lily.
Lily was born one month after he died.
