Australian startup Hysata opened its first production line at HysataFab in Port Kembla, south of Sydney. Electrolysers split hydrogen from water using clean electricity.
Hysata's electrolysers use 20 per cent less energy than rival technologies. AI monitors production and boosts efficiency.
The almost $100 million project will eventually have three production lines. Further investment will expand the factory to 200 megawatts of capacity.
This will make it the largest electrolyser facility in the southern hemisphere.
