Logan pursues $156m Olympic baseball and softball stadium
A $156 million ballpark in Logan would be Queensland's first dedicated baseball and softball facility, expanding to 10,000 seats for major events.
Logan City Council will consider a report this week about a $156 million baseball and softball stadium to be built on Griffith University land in Meadowbrook. The report calls it a once-in-a-generation opportunity for Queensland.
Queensland currently lacks a facility built for professional baseball and softball. The ballpark would have 4,000 base seats.
It would expand to 10,000 seats for major events like the 2032 Olympics. The Brisbane Bandits Australian Baseball League team is interested.
They want to move there and be the main tenant. Mayor Jon Raven said the facility could attract training camps from Japan, Korea and Taiwan.
He said the ballpark would do more than serve the Olympics. It would bring long-term benefits for sport, tourism, events and the economy.
