Kelpie Zara recovers and finds forever home after abandoned attack
Dog attacked and abandoned in March recovers fully after surgeries and specialist care, now thriving with new owner.
Zara, a kelpie, was beaten in March at just one year old. Zara was left tethered to a tree at a South Australian golf course.
The dog was found injured, frightened and in urgent need of care. Zara had surgeries for soft tissue and brain injuries.
Then she spent months in specialist veterinary and behaviour care to help her recover. In May, she was ready for rehoming and went to live with Jodie Cahill in Mount Gambier.
Now, almost six months later, Zara has bonded with another kelpie and walks confidently around town. Cahill says she no longer fears the specific types of men who once frightened her.
She is fully settled in a loving home. The RSPCA is launching its annual fundraising campaign to support other animals needing second chances.
