Magistrate court adjourns 155-charge theft case until November
Caroline Upton's hearing on 155 charges of stealing and fraud was adjourned until November 13.
Caroline Maree Upton, 34, from Longford, appeared in Launceston Magistrates Court on Tuesday facing 155 charges. Caroline Upton has been charged with one count each of forgery and uttering, 39 counts of computer-related fraud, and 114 counts of stealing across two charges.
Police allege she stole money from a Longford pub and forged a bank statement to defraud a social club. Upton has pleaded not guilty.
The hearing, scheduled for Tuesday, did not proceed after the prosecutor requested an adjournment until November 13. The prosecutor said she had only recently received the case file and needed time to verify that the figures for each charge were accurate.
The defence lawyer agreed to the delay and indicated some charges might be resolved by guilty pleas at the next court date.
