Actor Dennis Haskins, who played Principal Belding on Saved by the Bell, dies aged 75
Dennis Haskins, who played Principal Richard Belding on Saved by the Bell for more than 10 years, has died aged 75.
Dennis Haskins, the actor best known for playing Principal Richard Belding on the hit 1989-1993 sitcom Saved by the Bell, has died aged 75. Haskins' agent announced the death on Tuesday without disclosing the cause.
Haskins auditioned seven times before landing the role, which became iconic partly for his catchphrase "Hey, hey, hey, what is going on here?" He reprised the character in the spinoff Saved by the Bell: The New Class, which ran for seven years.
Later in his career he appeared in television shows including New Girl, Mad Men, and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. He is survived by his son Dustin.
The cast has now lost two beloved members in just five years; Dustin Diamond, who played Samuel "Screech" Powers, died from lung cancer in 2021 at age 44.
