Narrandera Eagles back-to-back under-18s premiership ignites town revival
Narrandera's young Eagles won their second consecutive under-18s premiership, 87 to 64 over Wagga Tigers on Saturday.
Narrandera's under-18s Eagles defeated Wagga Tigers 13.9 (87) to 9.10 (64) in the Riverina League grand final, claiming back-to-back premierships and reigniting hope for the struggling regional club. Huxley Coelli kicked six goals with four in a dominant second quarter, and Riley Boag added three.
The Eagles' first premiership in 24 years was last season. Coach Stu Hutchins said the success is crucial for keeping local kids in the town and building toward a fuller revival.
'A lot of these kids are local, they have jobs and will be staying,' Hutchins said. He believes the foundation could help the club climb the ladder over the next few years.
Boag was named best on ground and dedicated the win to supporters.
