Box Hill stuns Cats to win VFL premiership
Box Hill's 62-39 victory was their first premiership since 2018.
Box Hill defeated Geelong Cats 8.14 (62) to 5.9 (39) in the VFL Grand Final at IKON Park on Sunday, securing their fourth premiership. Heavy winds shaped the game, and Box Hill's defense restricted Geelong to just three goals by the midway point of the second quarter.
Nineteen-year-old midfielder Oliver Greeves won the Norm Goss Medal for best on ground with 28 disposals and nine clearances. Ned Reeves dominated the ruck with 43 hitouts, and defensive pair Noah Mraz and Jack Scrimshaw combined for 18 marks.
The Hawks' first premiership since 2018 was also a repeat of their 2013 Grand Final victory over the Cats.
