New Zealand to host Race of Champions motorsport event in 2027
New Zealand will host the Race of Champions for the first time on January 9-10, 2027, at Wellington's Hnry Stadium.
Wellington will host the Race of Champions in January 2027. The event brings drivers from Formula 1, Supercars and World Rally to compete in equal cars.
New Zealand will field World Rally driver Hayden Paddon and one other driver, potentially Shane van Gisbergen or Scott McLaughlin. Australia will send Supercars champion Chaz Mostert.
Confirmed international drivers include Formula 1 driver Valtteri Bottas from Finland and former champion Sebastian Vettel from Germany. Tickets are on sale now.
The race runs on a temporary indoor course inside the stadium. Past events were held at Wembley Stadium in London and Marlins Park in Miami.
