Security guard escapes firebomb attack at Adelaide warehouse

A suspect threw flammable liquid at a guard's car, then Molotov cocktails at a van in an arson attack on a warehouse.

Hassan Zahid was guarding a tobacco warehouse on Beulah Road in Norwood when an arson attack unfolded at 6.30am. Zahid spotted a man with a blue jerry can hanging around an hour earlier and warned him away.

The suspect returned with what Zahid believes was about two litres of flammable liquid and threw it on Zahid's car. Zahid started his car and just drove off.

The suspect then jumped a fence and threw Molotov cocktails at a van parked nearby, which erupted in flames sending black smoke and bright orange fumes into the air. A firebomb also hit a locksmith's business next door.

This is the third arson attack at the warehouse since April. Detectives are reviewing CCTV to identify the suspect.
