Nearly half of Australian investors now use AI for stock decisions

Nearly 48.6 per cent of Australian investors use AI tools. Fewer than a third trust the insights.

Almost half of Australian investors now rely on AI to research companies, analyse markets and generate trade ideas. A survey by stockbroking platform CMC studied 8500 clients.

Of those using AI, 33.1 per cent do so occasionally and 15.6 per cent regularly. Doubt remains strong.

Less than a third of respondents say they actually trust AI-generated market insights. Most investors are staying in the market despite geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and Ukraine.

Most cite their bank balance as the biggest barrier to investing. Exchange-traded funds are viewed as safer bets in volatile times.
