Boorcan man pleads guilty to rural property theft spree
Nicholas Anderson admitted to stealing hot water systems, copper piping and cable from rural properties across southwest Victoria.
Nicholas Anderson is 38 years old and from Boorcan. Anderson pleaded guilty in Warrnambool Magistrates Court to stealing metal and equipment from rural properties.
Anderson was first charged with more than 20 offences but accepted a smaller number instead. Police used phone records to place his mobile phone at crime scenes.
They matched his clothes against CCTV footage from the incidents. Police seized the phone and matching clothing during a search warrant.
The sentence will be delivered on 1 October at the same court. Magistrate Gerard Bryant said this was a strong case for the prosecution.
He noted that Anderson is likely to be extradited to New South Wales following the hearing.
