Man refused bail after arrest at school during book parade
A 41-year-old arrested at an Illawarra school during a book parade has been refused bail on domestic violence charges.
A man was arrested at Albion Park Rail Public School on September 23 moments after a book week parade ended. The man was charged with breaching an apprehended violence order (AVO) for domestic matters.
At court the next day, bail was refused. Judge Te'res Sia cited his difficulty complying with court orders and his history of breaches linked to the same complainant.
The man had two outstanding domestic violence warrants. At least six marked and undercover police cars arrived at the school around 11am, prompting staff to close the main entrance.
The school later confirmed the matter was unrelated to the school and posed no danger to students or staff.
