Richmond escapes with 68-61 win despite kicking straight behinds
Richmond beat GWS 68-61, holding on despite spraying six behinds in the last quarter.
Richmond's defense stood firm when it mattered most, surviving a second-half GWS fightback to win 9.14 (68) to 10.1 (61) at Corroboree Group Oval in Canberra. The Tigers raced to a 55-18 halftime lead but nearly threw it away, kicking 0.6 in the final term as the Giants mounted a comeback with six goals.
Gabby Seymour kicked three goals to help see out the win. Olivia Wolmarans, Richmond's No.1 draft pick, collected three goals from nine marks, though Caitlin Greiser could have done more damage with 1.5.
The victory lifts Richmond to 4-2 and sits them just outside the top eight.
