Horses help trauma survivors heal in rural Victoria

Jess Daws founded Kookaburra Hill Equine Services in Yackandandah, offering horse-based therapy for people with anxiety, grief and trauma.

Jess Daws struggled with trauma, grief and anxiety and found peace spending time with horses in the paddock. After training in human and equine Reiki, she opened Kookaburra Hill to offer others the same healing.

Sessions involve grooming horses, mindfulness, groundwork and sitting quietly near the animals. No riding or prior horse experience is needed.

Each session is tailored to the person's goals, whether managing anxiety, grief, family violence or low self-worth.
